Can I use Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating while following the FODMAP diet?
Learn How Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating Can Fit Into Your FODMAP Diet!
What is a FODMAP diet?
-
In people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), high-FODMAP foods may cause bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, or abdominal discomfort.
-
A low-FODMAP diet can reduce these symptoms, typically implemented in three phases:
-
Elimination – remove high-FODMAP foods (2–6 weeks).
-
Reintroduction – gradually reintroduce foods to identify triggers (8–12 weeks).
-
Maintenance – a long-term, personalized plan based on tolerances.
-
Our meals are generally not suited for the initial elimination and reintroduction phases of a FODMAP diet, when high-FODMAP foods must be strictly avoided or slowly reintroduced. However, once you’ve reached the maintenance phase and are no longer fully eliminating foods, our meals may work depending on which foods you still need to avoid.
Tips for using SSHE meals with a FODMAP approach
-
Identify your triggers with your dietitian before starting by finishing the elimination and reintroduction phases of the FODMAP diet before starting SSHE.
-
Choose meals that avoid your high-FODMAP foods.
-
Work with a registered dietitian to maintain balance, nutrient intake, and digestive comfort.
-
SSHE meals make it easy to stay portion-controlled and consistent, which can reduce flare-ups.
We recommend consulting with your dietitian to select meals that fit your personal FODMAP needs while keeping your diet balanced and symptom-friendly.
