How Much Dairy Do I Need to Add?
Milk requirements for Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating Plans
We recommend adding dairy to our Dietitian-Designed Meal Plans to align with the nutrition guidelines we follow as well as to round out the plan's protein, calcium, and vitamin D.
Calcium helps keep our bones strong, build new bone, and helps prevent osteoporosis. Dairy products contain the highest concentration of calcium per serving. Milk is fortified with vitamin D and this crucial vitamin plays many roles in our health. Plus, dairy if full of healthy protein and potassium.
Dairy Recommendations on the Dietitian-Designed Meal Plans:
1200 Calorie plan (Signature Menus and Plant-Based Vegetarian Menus): 2 servings of fat-free dairy
2000 Calorie plan (Signature Menus and Plant-Based Vegetarian Menus): 3 servings of fat-free or low-fat dairy
You can add dairy servings to meals or have them as snacks between meals.
